Transaction Monitoring System Implementation Specialist

Role overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transaction Monitoring System Implementation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in transaction monitoring and system implementation to ensure that our monitoring systems are fully aligned with regulatory requirements and fit for purpose. You will work closely with compliance, business, and technical teams to implement, optimize, and maintain robust systems for detecting suspicious activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

Main responsibilities

  • Regulatory Expertise: Understand and interpret regulatory requirements related to transaction monitoring, including AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and financial crime prevention.
  • System Implementation: Lead and support the implementation and enhancement of transaction monitoring systems, ensuring that they meet both regulatory standards and business needs.
  • Collaboration with Developers: Work closely with system developers to ensure that the monitoring system is configured correctly and is capable of detecting suspicious transactions in line with regulations and internal policies.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the transaction monitoring system, implementing enhancements to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in detecting, investigating, and reporting suspicious transactions.
  • Testing and Validation: Oversee and support testing phases to validate system functionality and regulatory compliance. Ensure the system’s alert thresholds, parameters, and reporting capabilities meet the necessary standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, regulatory updates, and implementation processes. Regularly update compliance teams on the system’s performance and regulatory alignment.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Provide training to internal stakeholders (compliance, operations, etc.) on system functionality, regulatory expectations, and best practices related to transaction monitoring.

Essential skills/experience

  • Proven experience in transaction monitoring, AML compliance, or financial crime prevention, with hands-on experience in system implementation or system enhancement within the financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of transaction monitoring systems, such as Actimize, SAS, Verafin, or similar platforms. Familiarity with system configuration, customization, and testing.
  • Strong understanding of AML regulations, FATF recommendations, and local financial crime regulations. Ability to translate regulatory requirements into system features and functionality.
  • Strong experience in working closely with IT, development teams, and cross-functional departments to deliver projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify system gaps, propose enhancements, and troubleshoot issues effectively to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
