5 reasons why Brits love to ski
Contrary to the beliefs of some, the Brits are keen skiers. Why? Well…
1. It’s a welcome change from your daily routine
A
change of scenery, from the dull skies of Britain and the monotonous
tone of city life, is something we all look for in a holiday break. And
ski resorts provide exactly that; with breathtaking mountain views and
snowy winter climates, they are a world away from British drizzle.
These activity holidays make for a fantastic change from everyday life,
allowing holidaymakers to leave their stresses and worries behind as
they embark upon their winter adventure.
2. There are plenty of activities that revolve around skiing
A skiing holiday doesn’t just have to involve skiing or snowboarding, both cheap and luxury ski deals
will take you to locations where there are many other fun winter
activities to enjoy. These include activities such as ice climbing,
snow shoe walking and tobogganing (as well as skiing, of course).
The
benefit of all these activities is they are great for your health.
Skiing and snowboarding in particular will help boost fitness levels by
providing all the regular benefits of cardio exercise, and will
exhilarate the senses, breaking that body cycle rut that has left you
tired and without energy. Calories from last night will without a doubt
have been burnt off after a morning of active skiing, meaning you can
enjoy great food guilt free.
3. Resorts offer luxurious accommodation with plenty of facilities
Skiing destinations, particularly Italy ski resorts,
offer the ultimate in comfort and luxury. After an action-packed day on
the slopes, there is nothing better than coming home to log burning
fires and luxury spa facilities. Ski accommodation never falls short of
expectations: bedrooms are complete with clean, comfortable beds and
staff members are often ski enthusiasts who will happily advise you
about the sport.
4. Skiing is a thrill for the whole family
As
an activity to be enjoyed to the full by all the family, skiing is
unbeatable. Sports enthusiasts will, of course, love the challenges of
learning to ski, and even those teenage couch potatoes will find the
sport a thrill (although will likely take a more relaxed pace of
progression, which is absolutely fine).
Younger skiers can enjoy
skiing with specialist children’s equipment and miniature ski slopes,
whilst the adults take up the mantle higher up the ski course, or
perhaps, stick with the children on the smaller slopes (your kids will
love mucking about with you in the snow). Most ski resorts offer an
exclusive private nanny service for toddlers and babies.
5. It’s not just a winter activity
Everybody knows that the British love choice and with so many cheap ski deals
on offer, something can be found for everyone. There are over 100 Italy
ski resorts – with such choice, it is hard to go wrong. And many
resorts offer dry ski slopes, so ski enthusiasts can practise the sport
throughout the summer.
Brits love this aspect of the sport –
never have they let the weather dictate their activities before (many
happy Brits enjoy the seaside and ice cream on a cold day in August) so
why do so when it comes to skiing? Dry ski slopes are a great warm
weather alternative to traditional skiing, and allow you to build your
skills ready for the winter.
However, these five aside, the most
important reason that Brits (like so many other nationalities) love
skiing is that it is simply great fun. Nothing beats the anticipation
of ascending a towering mountain or the thrill of racing back down on
skis. The activity provides the ultimate adrenaline rush, making it
popular with Brits as well as the rest of the world.
Cheap ski
deals can be found at the last minute with ease, allowing those on a
budget to participate in the fun winter sport. Alternatively, luxury
ski deals allow those looking for sophistication and maximum comfort to
get exactly what they want from their skiing break.
