Roman Wall

Roman Wall Tower Hill, EC3
Tower Hill

A large portion of the wall which marked the eastern boundary of the Roman city of Londinium still stands across the street from the Tower of London. Dating from around the 3rd century, it is 24 ft. high and 3 ft. thick and is the largest remaining portion of the original city wall. The red Roman brick can easily be seen as well as the masonry amalgam used to bind them together.
