Trafalgar Square
WC2
Charing Cross
Standing at the very heart of the city, Trafalgar Square is London's equivalent to New York City's Times Square. It is crowned by and gets its name from the 167 ft. column commemorating Admiral Nelson's 1805 victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. In addition to being a public gathering place, Trafalgar Square is home to tens of thousands of pigeons, who mill about looking for anyone willing to feed them. Of course, food is sold by enterprising sidewalk vendors, but unless you are desirous of very close interaction with the pigeons, it would be better to resist any temptation you might feel to buy it.
