The Anchor Inn 34 Park Street, Bankside, SE1 London Bridge The best known pub on the south side of the Thames is The Anchor Inn, the sole survivor of the 22 inns that once lined Bankside. It was a favourite meeting place for many literary figures, including Dr Johnson. The Anchor Inn was rebuilt during the period 1770 - 1775 and remains a favorite with both visitors and the local business community; in fact, it is the official pub of the Financial Times, whose building is nearby.
