The Fat Man

As far as I am concerned, GOOD FOOD IS BETTER THAN SEX! This is not open to conjecture, nor do I require e-mails arguing that I haven't fully explored the Kama Sutra. I know. I have worked hard to sustain my 260lb frame. If I was only 8 inches taller, it might even look good! This fine temple of manliness has been fuelled by far to many visits to some of the finer culinary establishments in and around London and I have decided to pass on my expansive knowledge of food and wine ( and waistline and ego ) to your good selves.

It's would be easy to recommend expensive, three star, restaurants, but that would, perhaps, limit your visit to one or two days as London is SERIOUSLY BLOODY EXPENSIVE! We can't just blame the exchange rate, either. This is a city where petrol costs around $5 a gallon, Jaguars cost 35% more than in the States - and the room rate for a decent suite at the Lanesborough Hotel is $6,000 per night! Ralph Lauren shirts cost $140+ and a Big Mac meal is about $8 - or so I hear because I'd rather attach electrodes to my pink bits than eat there.

While London ain't cheap, it is the most magnificent city in the world... fantastic history, great sights, and an absolutely superb selection of restaurants ( more than 11,000). I promise you, I only review restaurants where I have eaten personally. I have not, sadly, been bribed or fed free-of-charge to endorse them and the prices quoted are realistic and current. Opinions are, of course, entirely subjective and in most instances I included the considerations of my dining partner in my appraisals. I have a tendency towards drinking expensive French wines, so I will show the cost of liquor separately. Please also note that you only have to be 18 in England to imbibe an alcoholic drink, so yes, your kids WILL come with you without protest.

I do not intend to comment on individual dishes as I fully expect the menus to change with regularity and, being a lazy sod, will not update the guide on less than an annual schedule. The 'Fat Man rating' is my overall score, taking on board quality, service, ambience , presentation and value.

Finally and, perhaps, most importantly, kindly note that I am the owner of sei.co Chauffeur Services, a Mercedes limousine service, that will happily cater to your every transportation needs including: airport transfer, touring, shopping trips, dining out or theatre needs.
