The Fat Man

 FRENCH

LOU PESCADOU
241 Old Brompton Road, Earl's Court, London SW5
Tel: 0171 370 1057
Fat Man rating: 67/100

Close your eyes. Open them quickly. Do this sixty times in rapid succession and you get a similar buzz to dropping a LSD tablet but without the after effects! Okay, seriously, go into Lou Pescadou and do it - but just once - and you'll honestly believe that you're in a little bistro overlooking the harbour in a little village in Northern Brittany. Everything is very, very French; the staff, the food, the wine and the owner! The passion here is for seafood which is even reflected in the decorations.

Choose from staples such as oysters, squid, prawns, lobster and clams or choose something from the meatier options - great steak, by the way. There are some tables at the rear which afford al fresco dining (outdoors, moron) but these are highly sought after on at least 6 occasions each year when the sun shines!

The food is pretty good and their set menu at lunch times is a mere £9.95 which is pretty good value. The down sides are the preposterous accents that happen to be genuine and the fishing nets on the wall. Expect to pay about £60 for two and £12+ for the wine.

Kids very welcome.
