Matsuri is a truly stylish and elegant basement restaurant which boasts an outstanding Sushi bar and perhaps the best teppanyaki (cooked at your table) food in London. Have a cocktail upstairs then descend to a huge area where the déor is very bright and modern and the staff all possess that well-known Japanese wit and repartee. Christ, you can get better conversations at the local hospice! The food is, however, absolutely brilliant.
You order complete meals, ie: choose your main course and the salad, soup, rice etc is all included. Additional starters, such as sushi, sashimi, yakitori etc are very costly. Main course choices include lobster, king prawns, chicken, steak, fish and vegetarian. The wine list is expensive and limited, with good representations from France and the New World; try the Laurent Perrier Rosé champagne.
Costs are probably between £35 and £90 per head for food and the drinks bill will add another £25+.
