The Fat Man

 CHINESE

JADE GARDEN
15 Wardour Street, Soho, London W1
Tel: 0171 437 5065
Fat Man rating: 80/100

Continuing the theme of unadulterated insolence, Jade Garden is a large Cantonese restaurant located at the entrance to Chinatown. The décor sucks, there is no ambience, just incredibly rude staff who really couldn't care whether you eat or not, are happy or not, are dead or not. Wait here to be seated and you could take root. The food is, of course, terrific and they have the most varied and outstanding selection of dim sum in London, brought round on trolleys. There is an la carte but don't bother if the dim sum is available - up until 5 p.m. seven days a week. Forget wine - beer, sake or water is the order of the day.

Costs are from £10 per person upwards, depending on your girth.

Kids welcome - just don't take your eyes off them.
