The Fat Man

 CAFES

THE CHELSEA KITCHEN
98 King's Road, Chelsea, London SW3
Tel: 0171 589 1330
Fat Man rating: 68/100

At the Sloane Square end of the famous King's Road in Chelsea is this unbelievably cheap café called The Chelsea Kitchen that provides perfectly acceptable sustenance at the lowest possible prices. As you can imagine, there is a shortage of original Picassos on the wall but the seating, on benches surrounding laminated tables, is quite adequate. The condiments come in those charming 70s stainless steel affairs and the cutlery is predominantly bent out of shape. However, from early in the morning till late at night, they provide all day breakfasts, minestrone, spaghetti bolognese, beef bourgignon, prawn cocktails and a variety of other, international dishes. Mainly soft drinks but there are beers and some wine available. Now, here's the best bit.

Expect to pay about £8 for a three course meal! I kid you not! It's always hot, pleasantly edible, and CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!

Kids welcome.
