The York Dungeon In Clifford Street
York's gruesome past is brought back to life deep below the pavement of Clifford Street in the appropriately named 'York Dungeon'. Twin to its London counterpart, this famous Museum of Horror is a favourite haunt of everyone interested in the dreadful details of the less salubrious events in the city's history.
Experience the days of the Black Death, when plague swept across York and throughout the country in the mid-14th century; see some of York's most ghostly inhabitants walk again; and follow in the footsteps of Dick Turpin as he is taken from popular folk hero to the gallows at York Tyburn.
