City Art Gallery In Exhibition Square
Adjoining the King's Manor, and opposite Bootham Bar, sits the York City Art Gallery. It's five-arched portico displays roundels of notable Yorkists from various facets of the world of art, while a statue of local artist, William Etty dominates Exhibition Square in which it stands.
Etty's work is prolific amongst the Gallery's excellent collection by English artists. Other exhibits include the Lycett Green collection and works from old masters to 20th century painters. There is always a varied programme of temporary exhibitions and lectures to enjoy.
