Tour the City of Winchester by David Nash Ford BA, Editor, History on Britannia
Historic Resources Centre
The Winchester Historic Resources Centre stands at Hyde House (75 Hyde Street; tel; (0)1962 848269). It is the home of the Winchester Museums Service and its extensive collection
of photographs, as well as the offices of the City Archaeologists. The centre has a Local History Research Room and occasionally holds historical exhibitions.
The house itself is a strange two-storeyed red brick building of about 1665 with a Dutch gable on the west front. The east side is earlier, of stone with a 15th or 16th century window on first floor.
