At Wheddon Cross, five miles southwest of Dunster

The Sundial Cottage, Wheddon Cross
We begin, not with a pub, but with a typical English tea room. This is strategically placed on the north side of the cross roads that are the raison d'etre for the village itself. It serves well cooked light meals, but its forte is the afternoon tea. Its cakes and scones are home made and its cream is produced within the parish. It has space for only about twenty customers at a time, which ensures a good level of service. It also provides bed and breakfast, or half board at rates as low as any that you will find in the area. The accommodation is clean and comfortable with superb country views in almost every direction. As a centre for the exploration of Exmoor and the Brendon Hills it has few equals.
