Tretower, Breconshire

At Tretower, the beautifully preserved Manor known as Tretower Court sits next to the ruins of the Norman Castle, partly destroyed by Owain Glyndwr and then abandoned. A massive circular tower remains. The Manor gives us an exceptionally complete example of a late medieval fortified manor house, with its courtyard, galleries and gatehouse. It was the seat of the illustrious Vaughan family.

Next Stop: Bryn Bras, Caernarfonshire
