The most interesting features of this impressive red sandstone edifice, called the Red Castle by the locals, built for the Earls of Powys, and inhabited for some 500 years, are the four 200 ft long terraced gardens and the Clive museum. There is a fine collection of portraits, furniture and objects collected in India, and many rooms are open to the public.
