Deganwy
Castle, now a sad ruin, situated on two volcanic outcrops, behind the town, played an important role in the struggle between invading Norman and native Welsh. The castle of Hugh Lupus, Earl of Chester, it was destroyed by Llywelyn the Great in 1241 and after being rebuilt by yet another Earl of Chester, was finally destroyed by Llywelyn the Last in 1260.
