Pwllheli

The town of Pwllheli (Pooth Hellee) lies on the southern coast of the Llyn Peninsular, sheltered by Tremadog Bay. Granted borough status in 1335 by the Black Prince, today's Pwllheli is described in the guide books as a mixture of seaside resort and market town, Pwllheli serves the Llyn as a main shopping center and market place. In years gone by, the town was a considerable port and ship-building center, noted for its fast, ocean-going schooners. Mostly empty and forlorn in winter, in summer, the harbor is full of pleasure boats and yachts. Three miles to the south of town at Pen Y Chain (Pen uh Kine) is a large holiday resort and camp.
