Llandinam

There is not much to see in Llandinam (Thlan Deenam) a tiny village situated between Llanidloes and Newtown, in Montgomeryshire. Industrial history buffs come here, however, to honour the memory of David Davies, (whose daughters bought Gregynog) who amassed a great fortune through speculating in various enterprises and industries, including the building of the great docks at Barry that effectively rivaled those of Cardiff in the 19th century. His bronze statue is in the village. Much of the prized objects collected by the Davies family landed up in the National Museum of Wales at Cardiff, including some very valuable works of French Impressionist painters.
