Robin Hood's Tower City Walls, York (602524)
Robin Hood's Tower is on the city walls of York between Bootham and Monk Bars. Unfortunately, there appears to be no special story associated with it.
It was at York that, in 1226, the Royal Justices first heard the case of the Robin Hood (Hobbehod) fugitive. It is interesting to recall that Sir Henry de Faucunburg, the Sherriff of Nottingham probably associated with Robin Hood of Wakefield, was keeper of the castle here and sheriff of the county for a while.
