Upton Hall

Day 6 - We now went west to Southwell via Upton.

Upton HallUpton Hall is the headquarters of the British Horological Institute. The house was built in 1828 for Thomas Wright, a banker. A small portion of an earlier Elizabethan house is incorporated in what we see today. It has an impressive portico with Ionic columns.

This is a museum displaying many interesting clocks and timepieces.

Upton is a member of the Historic Houses Association and is open from April to October every day, except Saturdays, from 1:30pm - 5pm.

Next Stop: Southwell Minster
