 In this final segment of the series, Kathryn Gillett finishes her search
for places that transport her back to Elizabethan England
The next stop in my search for Sir Francis Drake's
England was the ancient naval nerve center of Portsmouth. This was where Drake
returned, a hero yet again, after sacking the previously impregnable Spanish
stronghold of Cartegena. But more importantly for my purposes, I was going there
to visit an impressive old lady named Mary Rose.
