Parts of the church date back to the 12th century, but the building mostly dates from two hundred years later; particularly the striking tower with its unusual saddle-back roof. Interesting features include the timber south porch of about 1315, early 16th century allegorical figures on the pulpit and Jacobean chancel fittings.
There are some nice monuments in the chancel: Renaissance kneeling effigies of Francis Smallman and his wife (1635) with trumpeting cherubs and a priestly brass of 1421.
