Skipton Castle, Yorkshire
A perfect example of preservation and display, the castle is introduced by an informative itinerary and imaginative history. One hearth alone could take a whole ox on a spit. The castle was rebuilt after the Civil Wars; a self-guided tour brings its fascinating history alive.
