Ford Castle, Northumberland
Scottish King James lV stayed here before his death at the Battle of Flodden Field in 1513. The castle is not open to the public, but you can stay at the Estate House on the grounds. Nearby Lady Waterford Hall has her interesting murals painted in the former school.
