Etal Castle, Northumberland Only the well-preserved central keep and gate house still survive. The narrow-gauge Heatherslaw Light Railway runs to the foot of the castle (pronounced "Eetle"), where salmon can be seen jumping the weir on the River Till below.
Hours: Easter-Sept daily 10am 6pm; Oct 10am - 4pm.
