Died: 27th October 1424
Nicholas Bubwith, had been translated from the Bishopric of London to Salisbury, and thence to Bath & Wells in 1407. He was present at the Council of Constance and was one assisted in electing Pope Martin V. In his cathedral at Wells, he built the north tower of the west front and his beautiful chantry remains in the nave. Bishop Bubwith was the founder of an almshouse at Wells, still existing near St. Cuthbert's church.
