John Drokensford
(Died 1329)
Bishop of Bath & Wells
Died: 9th May 1329
John Drokensford, Bishop of Bath & Wells (1309) and Keeper of the King's wardrobe, was appointed guardian of the kingdom during the absence of Edward II in France in 1312. He subsequently attached himself to the party of Queen Isabella. "He took," says the old historian of Wells, "some care of his diocese, which he adorned by his buildings, but far more of his own family."
Edited from Richard John King's "Handbook to the Cathedrals of England: Southern Division" (1903).
