Thomas II of Bayeux
(Died 1114)
Archbishop of York
Died: 24th Fenruary 1114
Thomas II was nephew of Archbishop Thomas I of Bayeux. His brother, Richard, was Bishop of Bayeux from 1108 to 1133. Thomas refused to make the submission to Archbishop Anselm, without which Anselm would not consecrate him, and it was only after Anselm's death that, very unwillingly and on the insistence of the King, he submitted and was consecrated by the Bishop of London. Little is recorded of this Archbishop who died at Beverley in 1114.
Edited from Richard John King's "Handbook to the Cathedrals of England: Northern Division" (1903).
