Peter
(Died 1211)
Abbot of Whitby
Died: 1211
Peter succeeded Richard De Waterville to the Abbacy of Whitby in 1189. He paid a fine of one hundred marks that the burgesses of the town should not be permitted to make use of the privileges granted them by his predecessor, until it had been determined in the King's Court whether the abbot and convent had authority to make such a grant. It was rendered null and void by King John's refusal to confirm the grant. He died in 1211.
