What you'll see:
Your Cotswolds vacation package includes admission to the following British Heritage Properties.
Stratford-upon-Avon. Begin your tour with a pilgrimage to the historic and famous home of the Bard, William Shakespeare. It is now home to the Royal Shakespeare Company, providing an exceptional theatre experience in a modern performing arts complex.
Shakespeare's Birthplace. Located on Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of the Bard is a 16th century Tudor half-timbered home. Be sure to note the graffiti of tourists Sir Isaac Newton and Sir Walter Scott, which is etched on the glass of the "birth room" window.
Shakespeare Countryside Museum & Mary Arden's House. This Tudor farmhouse, where Shakespeare's mother grew up and the adjoining museum give an excellent view of English rural life. You'll see historic dovecote, country furnishings and utensils, as well as farming implements and rare breeds of livestock.
Warwick Castle. Dating from the 14th century, this castle sits magnificently on the banks of the River Avon. Its most powerful resident was Richard Neville, 16th Earl, who enjoyed the unofficial title of "Kingmaker". A very wealthy landowner and powerbroker of the time, he could afford to fund armies behind the ruler of his choice. Enjoy lunch in the tea room.
Hidcote Manor Gardens. In 1907, this 17th century manor house was bought by American Major Lawrence Johnston with the intention of creating gardens on the surrounding hillsides. He found that the strong winds made it necessary to "build" garden walls. The resulting design, composed of garden "rooms", influenced gardens throughout Britain and abroad.

Burton-on-the-Water.This very charming Cotswold village sits astride the River Windrush. Take a short stroll or have a spot of tea in one of the delightful tea shops. There is also a remarkable knee-high model of the village.
Cheltenham. This spa town is known for its elegant Regency style and architecture. Take a short pause here to enjoy the unique character of the town and some of the classically built structures, along with the beauty of the Imperial Gardens.
Blenheim Palace. The Palace is one of England's largest stately homes and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Queen Anne gifted the Palace to General John Churchill, first Duke of Marlborough for his defeat of Louis XIV near a village called Blenheim. The Palace is set on 2,000 acres of gardens designed by the renowned Capability Brown.
Burford. As late as Victoria's day, Burford was one of England's last great wool centers. The town's medieval homes and shops are built of the Cotswolds yellow stone. Today its streets are lined with antique shops, but in days gone by these same shops were for the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker.
Chedworth Roman Villa. Set deep in the Cotswolds Hills, this site was unearthed in 1864. It is still an archaeological work in progress, to date 32 rooms and two complete bath suites have been identified. The beautiful fourth century mosaics are not to be missed. After your visit here we will proceed to the train station for a noon departure.
