What you'll see:
Your Cornwall & Devon vacation package includes admission to the following British Heritage Properties.
St. Michael's Mount. This spectacular granite and slate island, rising out of Mount's Bay, just off the coast, is accessible at low tide via a causeway. The 14th century castle, which houses several beautiful rooms, is perched at the highest point, over 200 feet above the sea, and built on the site of a Benedictine chapel founded by Edward the Confessor.
Penzance & Mousehole. As you travel back from St. Michael's Mount, you will pass through the bustling harbor town of Penzance and the Cornish fishing village of Mousehole. Once a major landing port, Mousehole retains the unspoiled charm of centuries past. You'll be able to enjoy an English seaside lunch along the way.
Truro Cathedral. This impressive, three spired, modern cathedral, the first built in over 700 years, was constructed in the neo-Gothic style. The city of Truro was the regional hub and distribution center for Cornwall's tin mines and its prosperity dates to that time. The many Georgian era buildings hark to a bygone era.
Lanhydrock House and Gardens. Lanhydrock means "Valley of St. Hydrock". The finest home in Cornwall, Lanhydrock House sits on 450 acres of lovely parkland and gardens in a secluded valley. The main house was severely damaged by fire and has been extensively renovated. The formal gardens contain bronze urns which were originally made for Louis XIV's Versailles.
Bodmin Moor. Your tour will take you through the haunting and mystical moors of Bodmin and Dartmoor. Dramatic, sunny landscapes often turn foreboding when the ocean mists roll in and the Hounds of the Baskervilles can be heard.
Castle Drogo. In the heart of Dartmoor, Castle Drogo is perched tenaciously on a crag above the Teign Valley. This castle, a monument to the ingenuity of its architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, boasts a colorful garden.

Exeter Cathedral. The magnificent Gothic Cathedral we see today was built in 1270, but there has been a church here since 932. The impressive sculpted entrance is the largest of its kind to survive from the 14th century. Inside, is the longest single expanse of Gothic vaulting in the world.
Torre Abbey. Torre Abbey, a 12th century monastery which was converted into a country home is just south of Exeter. Its interior has been decorated with period furnishings and the gardens create a tranquil setting. An interesting collection of Agatha Christie memorabilia is displayed in one of its fine rooms.
Torquay. Cheerily known as part of the English Riviera, Torquay is one of England's most popular seaside resort towns. In the Victorian era, lords and ladies strolled along the boardwalks of this city. Agatha Christie was born and lived here and used many of the town's settings in her widely read mysteries.
South Devon Railway Trip. Board the train in the village town of Totnes and ride through several miles of beautiful countryside along the River Dart, to Buckfastleigh. Surrounded by steep hills, woods and meadows, this little town covers only two square miles and is best known for its thriving Abbey.
Buckfast Abbey. The site of an abbey centuries ago, Buckfast Abbey was rebuilt by French Benedictine monks in the early 1900's. Today it is famous for its beekeeping, stained, glass workshop and its tonic wine-making. An impressive stained glass figure of Christ dominates the eastern end of the chapel.
Powderham Castle. Set in the middle of an ancient deer park, you may recognize this castle as the setting for the movie, "The Remains of the Day". Your tour of this fascinating 14th century castle, historic home of the Earl of Devon, includes viewings of the lavish 18th century interiors as well as a fine collection of French china.
